Currently in Seattle — October 12, 2023: 2-day stretch of sunshine

Plus, our new global warming reality, in one terrifying graph.

The weather, currently.

Sunny, with clouds in the morning

You might wake up to some clouds on Thursday, but they’ll give way to afternoon sunshine and starry skies in the evening. With only a light breeze and a high of 63, it’s promising to be a bright and crisp autumn day.

The colors around town are on bright display, and your favorite fleece is calling your name. We’re not fools, and this is Seattle, so you probably won’t leave home without an emergency rain jacket, but you almost certainly won’t need it.

(Maximize your time in the sun on Thursday or Friday. Rain returns this weekend.)

What you need to know, currently.

A new comprehensive summary of September’s shocking global temperature record was published on Wednesday. It’s worth a read in its entirety — it give an overview of exactly what happened, why, and what we can expect over the coming year or so as a result.

I’ll leave it at that. This graph says it all.

We are in a climate emergency.
