Currently in Seattle — July 19, 2024: Ideal Seattle weekend

The weather, currently.

We’ve got a good news forecast, Seattle. The rest of the state ... not so much. 

Friday will kick off under clouds, but they’ll largely burn off in the afternoon for a high of 80. Lows will dip to 60 overnight with some light, variable breezes. It’s ideal weather and should last through the weekend. Expect more sun and slightly higher temperatures on Saturday and Sunday, but the night lows will stick near 60.

So, that’s the good news. The bad news is that eastern Washington is going through a dangerous heat wave. Plus, lightning touched off new fires in the Cascades (and closed a section of Hwy 20 near Rainy Pass). Air quality is deteriorating east of the crest. The state is well and truly in our wildfire and smoke season, but it hasn’t yet arrived in Seattle.
