Currently in Seattle — August 9, 2024: Hazy, hot Friday and weekend cool down

The weather, currently.

Friday looks a lot like Thursday, with a high hovering right around 89 and widespread haze continuing (with some pockets around town faring better than others). If you need to be out and about, prepare for a moderate AQI. And who knows, we might luck out with some cleaner air.

In some good news, the weekend should remain sunny, but temperatures should cool off, with highs stepping down from 86 on Saturday to 79 on Sunday.

Headed into the Cascades? There’s a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms on Friday, but the weekend should be relatively clear on Saturday and Sunday. Smoke and some new wildfire road and trail closures are factors across the state, so be sure to check conditions before you travel.
